Re-imagination at Pleasure Beach Resort

Investing in thrilling new rides is a priority of ours, but it isn’t the only way we keep experiences fresh and exciting for our returning guests.

We’re lucky enough to be home to many new and classic rides, and so many of these hold special memories. That might be the thrill of your first rollercoaster, feeling invincible on a family ride before making the leap to something bigger, or the magical experience of immersing yourself in a dark ride and its unique sights, sounds and smells.

What we’re saying is, we understand we have an important (and sometimes tricky) role to play in terms of remaining competitive, contemporary and thrilling… while still preserving those important memories and experiences.

That’s why we’re committed not only to renewing our ride offering, but to re-imagining your favourites. It means we’re constantly investing in updating the story, systems, technology and theming of classic attractions, while still honouring what makes them special.

And we believe that approach makes us pretty special too.

Here are a few examples.

River Caves: re-imagination in progress

Our beloved River Caves has been a family favourite ride since 1905 – which is no mean feat! Earlier this year we announced the exciting news that we’re floating down a river of dreams and weaving new visions of wanderlust. In other words, River Caves will be the next ride to receive a re-imagining.

We’re keeping tight-lipped on the details for now, but we promise we’ll stay true to the heart of River Caves while we breathe new life into her, securing your future enjoyment for many years to come.

Launch Pad: re-imagined in 2025

Prepare for lift off: The former Ice Blast ride has received an out-of-this-world re-imagining for the 2025 season.

The newly-named Launch Pad has had its ride system replaced, so that it now delivers more powerful launches, weightless moments and stomach-dropping force. There’s also been a complete re-theme for a more immersive experience, and Launch Pad returns with new colours, changing from white to electrifying red and blue.

It’s a small step for man… and a giant leap (210 feet skyward, in fact) for Pleasure Beach Resort.

Valhalla: re-imagined in 2023

You don’t win ‘Best Water Ride in the World’ seven times over by standing still… or staying dry. The UK’s wettest ride still features many of the elements that made it so popular but its £4M re-imagining introduced plenty of new surprises, securing its legend status in the modern era.

Riders take a journey to Valhalla, the Viking afterlife, aboard a longboat guided buy a brave Viking named Ivàr. There, they encounter the spirit of Odin and experience extreme elements – fire, ice, and lots of water – as they battle to make it Valhalla.

One thing remains the same: You will get wet… you may get soaked.

Wallace & Gromit's Thrill-O-Matic: new scenes in 2025

Guests enjoying the world’s only Wallace & Gromit ride in sit in giant slippers as they travel through classic scenes, involving our favourite cheese-loving inventor and his trusty canine companion. And soon, those scenes will include the BAFTA award-winning Vengeance Most Fowl. Neat and tidy!

Ghost Train: new scenes in 2024/25

Pleasure Beach’s Ghost Train, which opened in 1930, is said to be the most haunted ghost train ride in the world, and even counts Hollywood director Tim Burton as its biggest fan. However, the reported ghostly goings-on haven’t stopped us from investing in making sure there are plenty of fresh frights in this historic dark ride.

Multiple new scenes, soundtracks and characters – which are all hand-made in house by PB Studios – were introduced in 2024, and we’re continuing to make changes and investments. Keep a watchful eye out for new additions in 2025…
