About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced joiner to join our construction team. As a joiner, you will be responsible for cutting, shaping, and assembling wooden materials to construct various structures, furniture, and fixtures. You will work closely with other departments and other tradespeople to ensure high-quality craftsmanship and timely completion of projects. The ideal candidate should possess excellent woodworking skills, attention to detail, and the willingness to expand their technical ability within a construction environment.

Being the world’s most ride intensive amusement park & resort you will be enthusiastic and have the ability to adapt to a fast paced environment. The ideal candidate will be expected to maintain and work across the full asset profile including properties, hotels, theatres & other venues.

This role will include weekend working on a rota basis through the open season.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine project specifications.
  • Use various hand and power tools to measure, cut, shape, and join wooden materials.
  • Build, install, and repair wooden structures, furniture, cabinetry, doors, windows, and other fixtures.

  • Select appropriate wood types and materials based on project requirements.
  • Inspect and assess job sites to identify potential issues or necessary modifications.
  • Collaborate managers, and other tradespeople to ensure accurate implementation of designs and specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Estimate time, materials, and costs required for each project.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues or challenges during construction.
  • Maintain and repair existing wooden structures and fixtures as required.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, techniques, and best practices to enhance skills and knowledge.
 
Education:
  • City & Guilds or National Vocational Qualification level 2 or above – desirable but not essential
  • Additional certifications or vocational training in carpentry or joinery is a plus
 

Job Knowledge

  • Building background
  • 2 years’ experience in Joinery

  

Previous Experience:

  • Experience of working Joinery

 

Training and Reaching Acceptable Competence:

  • Up to 6 months

 

Technical Skills:

  • Operating plant & machinery – Training provided
 

Requires an understanding of their own job including:

  • Operating machinery/power tools
  • Isolation procedures
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Analytical / problem solving skills
  • Carrying out reactive repairs in a safe manner

Requires an understanding of areas of the work portfolio including:

  • Permit to Work PTW
  • Knowledge of Company areas, equipment and services to help communication.
 
Communication:
  • Contributes to team meetings & toolbox talks which includes some problem solving

 

Problem Solving and Decision Making:

  • Deals with day to day problems of a simple nature that require immediate attention
  • Liaise with managers to be able to deal with more complex issues
  • Seeks assistance with non-routine problems or where other Company functions are involved

  • Contributes ideas to facilitate problem-solving within the team
  • Applies new approaches to get maximum efficiency.

  • Jobholder works for a lot of the time on his/her own, is therefore largely unsupervised and is responsible for the quality of his/her own work.
  • Jobholder acts in an overseeing capacity on the occasion that contractors are employed on the same job as the jobholder.
 
Working Environment: 
  • Site wide, both inside & out all year around
 

Physical Effort:

  • Job holder must be physically fit as the rob requires a large amount of physical effort, including but not limited to, climbing, crawling, lifting and carrying on a daily basis
 
Mental Effort:
  • Accurate recording and communication of information
  • Comprehension of site is needed in communication with contractors, leaders and other site personnel
  • The jobholder is constantly under pressure to meet deadlines and multiple concurrent activities are normal.
